No dogs were harmed in the making of this film.

This horror film, "Stan," required "the mangled corpse of a dog, festooned across the branches of a cedar tree."

Obviously, I wasn't about to go out and find an actual dog's corpse. Moreover, because the shoot happened in July, using any form of meat as a stand-in would have been a mistake for sanitary reasons. So instead, I decided to build a corpse from scratch.

In the end, all I had to use was newspaper, masking tape, some old carpet, hot glue, and paint. It's pretty convincing up to a couple feet away: all the gore, and none of the flies.
