Eloise Sherrid makes moving pictures.

Inspired by collage, she explores the boundary between fiction and nonfiction storytelling by mixing genres and media.

Her projects have shown at festivals nationally and internationally, including Hot Docs International Film Festival, BAMcinemaFest, Indie Memphis, and Dances With Films. They have screened at institutions including the Wexner Center and Rubin Foundation. Her short film, “The Body is a House of Familiar Rooms,” is available nationwide on Season 6 of POV Shorts from PBS.

Her work has been discussed in The Guardian, Hyperallergic, STAT, Design Type, and Print Magazine, and has featured in academic curricula and resource guides at MassArt, University of the Arts London, MICA, and the Association of Independent Colleges of Art & Design. It has screened at conferences such as WGS South 2023 and universities including Toronto Metropolitan University, Hunter College, and NYU Tisch.

Eloise directs and produces award-winning video projects for clients, including Christie’s, Pace Gallery, Gradient Experiential, and Rebirth Garments. Her projects have won eight Telly Awards and been nominated for a Webby.

Eloise holds a BFA ‘16 from the Rhode Island School of Design. When not behind the camera, she plays table-top RPGs, hikes mountains, and sews quilts out of fabric scraps.

She lives and works in Brooklyn, NY.

Regarding land, reparations and geography

As Eloise lives in New York City, she makes a monthly sustaining contribution to the Manna-hatta Fund, from which 100% of donations go to American Indian Community House, a Native led community center serving the health, social service, and cultural needs of Native Americans living in New York City.
